About Energy Estimator: Irrigation Tool

Energy Estimator is an energy consumption awareness tool. This particular tool, "Energy Estimator: Irrigation", is the third web-based energy consumption awareness tool being built by the Natural Resources Conservation Service. This third tool helps you identify water usage and fuel costs based on your crops considering the hydraulic settings on your farm. The first tool concentrated on diesel fuel used in the production of selected crops across common tillage systems in your area. The second tool enables you to calculate the cost of nitrogen product use on your farm. These tools are intended to give you an idea of the magnitude of energy savings that you could incur under different management systems.

The results generated by these tools are estimates based on NRCS models and are illustrative of the magnitude of savings possible. They are not intended to provide precise estimates for your particular farm: actual results would largely depend on your particular local circumstances, such as predominant soil types, rainfall, slope of land, machinery used, etc.

Please visit your local NRCS office for additional assistance.
